A Soldier's Sacrifice - Cleo's Story

Cleopatra was 11 years young when she was surrendered due to a military deployment for a 3rd tour of duty in Iraq. She was in excellent condition, obedience trained and had impeccable manners. She was affectionately known as Cleo to her foster family on LI.  Our fondest memories of Cleo are of her diving into the foster family's pool to show her foster lab sister what it meant to be a lab. Cleo was adopted by Janne and her chocolate female, Emma, who could have been Cleo's twin. Sadly, Cleo lost her sister Emma (pictured above with Cleo) this past year. While Emma's passing left a hole in all their lives, it also brought a new special chocolate senior girl named Nora into their family. She and Cleo have become fast friends and summer on Block Island where they can walk the beaches and Cleo can swim to her heart's content. She is truly a testimony to the resilience of the Labrador spirit and living each day to the fullest.
